about

Burn is another dip into the archive, presenting a classic performance at the second Hampshire Jam festival. It's a long form exploration of a rhythmic space, starting with abstract sounds and slowly building into a frenzy of sequencers.

It is never predictable how AirSculpture will approach a performance. This time all of the big guns came out; shiny new modular synthesizers and Mellotron (sadly its last outing with the band, though it did go on to a future life) as well as the usual ranks of analog, digital and computer hardware. This drives the slow burn from drifting ambience to wall of sound.

Why all the live albums? Good question, thanks for asking. It just works out that way; we make an effort to record all performances and rehearsals with as much fidelity as possible. Because everything is improvised any of these recordings could be the ones we want to release; but something about the live environment, interacting with the audience, and the need to get it right on the night with no retakes seems to bring out our best.
